Narrative /nerədiv/ noun, adj. 

Definition:  Narrative is a word that means to tell a story. Depending on how you use this word in a sentence, it can be used as either a noun or an adjective. 

Etymology:  Narrative comes from the middle French word narratif. In the 1560s, the word was used as a noun in American English to describe a story or tale. The word also became an adjective in the 1600s, meaning to tell.  

In a Sentence

After she was in an accident, she told the narrative of her side of the story.

Instead of reading a bedtime story to his daughter, he decided to tell a narrative of a beautiful princess and a handsome prince.

In language arts class she told the class her narrative and received an A+.
