Definition: Quintessential describes a perfect representation of high class, quality, and sophistication. It also describes an ethereal otherworldliness that is without a known equal comparison in the universe.

The level of perfection reached when a person, place, or thing becomes quintessential exceeds ordinary explanation or similar comparison. It is the best of its kind.

Quintessential is beyond perfection and has no comparison known to exist on earth. If something is quintessential, it is a representation of the highest honor a person, place, or thing within a group of similar makeup can receive. It is beyond one-of-kind and is the perfect example of being “out of this world.”

Etymology: Quintessential is a philosophical term derived from Late Middle English as “quintessence” (adj.) The word quintessence is a term used by modern physicists to describe a form of dark energy. The term quintessential from medieval Latin means “to fill the universe beyond earth.”
